My soccer team is called StudioEnergi. The typical talk at the beginning of each season is who is going to play. It is not because people move in and out of town for the most part, but because it depends on who is pregnant and who will be coming back post-pregnancy. Speculation surrounds who might be pregnant with their first and of course is it "time" for the second or third pregnancy. This is a conversation that is quite just. Last week I got together with just 5 of the girls that I play with and here are most of our little ones. The sidelines will be much busier this summer as this is less that half of our StudioEnergi 2.0 team!
So the latest experiment has been bottle feeding. I have been pumping fairly regularly and getting a good stockpile in the freezer as I joke with Dan about how I am planning my escape! Having a sufficient supply to feed the little guy is only half of the battle. The other half is getting it into him, which brings us to bottle feeding. The picture to the right looks very successful... however, pictures can be deceiving and this one is. Logan pushes the bottle away, refuses to suck, and finally screams at the bottle. We have tried at least half a dozen bottle and nipple combos at this point to no avail. Mom's out there if you have any tips, please send them our way.

The University of Waterloo has had a number of employees go on mat leave recently... I am sure that this is nothing new but now that I am part of that group and it seems like it is the cool thing to do these days. Yesterday I had some colleagues over with their new little ones - Leah is the oldest (Dec 2) and Priya is the youngest (Dec 20). Our little ones are sporting "Ideas start here" buttons a marketing campaign currently on at Waterloo. Logan, our little preemie is currently weighting in the heaviest! With at least 4 more to add to this crew there are going to be lots of playmates and playdates!
So I have a theory.... in fact I have lots of theories. Whether it is my science background or just who I am, I like to explain things. Now for parents out there you know that some things can't be explained but still I try. Today's theory might contradict yesterday's theory and most likely will change again by tomorrow. But for today my theory works and governs what I do and explains why Logan is sleeping and/or crying and/or eating etc. I find comfort in my theories. I feel like I have a better idea of what is going on and how to make things better the next time. Until Logan once again disproves my theory and I re-evaluate and once again create a new theory.
We were back at the doctor's today for Logan's first set of shots. He was a champ! He also is growing. He is now 12.12 lbs and 22.5 inches long. He has moved from the 5-25th percentile range to the 50th-75th percentile! Not bad for our preemie!
